Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
August 7, 2006
I. Approval of Minutes

II. Treasurer's Report
Membership: Thank you new contributing members! Each membership helps. (See Treasurers Report for full report).
LCRW: Thank you Craig Meyerson and those who participated in the 2006 LCRW. The promotion welcomed new sailors and $160. It received very positive feedback (see Craig's email for a thorough report). There will be further discussion about a possible 2007 LCRW in the coming off-season meetings.
Learn to Sail Scholarship: Chris Duley will be submitting an invoice to VSC for $175. The young person who sailed on the VSC Scholarship was selected from a pool of low-income children who would not have otherwise been afforded the opportunity. VCS is pleased to have helped promote sailing while supporting a local nonprofits(CBCBC).
III. Race Committee Business
Knot meter: has been fixed and calibrated.
Marks: Discussion was held about how to make the permanent marks more visible. The committee will look into reflective paint or stickers, flags etc. to try to make the marks more visible for next season.
IV. Soling Business
US Champs: Eddie is working on a preliminary NOR. He will present it to the executive committee for review before finalizing it. Details about racing, including associated fees, will be discussed at the next meeting.
Speakers for US Champs: Eddie is still recruiting interested speakers for an informal presentation/chalk talk at some point during the US Champs. Phil offered to approach Doc and Judy Murphy to discuss the possibility of having the presentation at their home. The presentation would include a general "chalk talk" but would also welcome stories and information about soling sailing in past years.
Soling Association Membership: Please be sure you are registered with the USA
V. Protest Committee
Two protests were addressed at recent hearings. No redresses were given.
VI. Social Events:
Ty is checking with skippers to see if there is interest in another fun sail.
