I. Approval of March 21 and April 17 Minutes:
· Minutes approved
II. Committee Reports
A. Treasurer’s Report: Brian White
· Dave Bashaw is taking care of the trailer and recently bought lumber. Thanks Dave
· Membership Status: We look forward to next season when more full time VSC sailors become paying members. All contributions help promote our club and are appreciated.
· Donated Boat: Virginia Petty donated a chase boat to VSC. It requires significant repair work, and cannot be resold at this time as the boat has no registration. VSC has agreed to pay $85 to the mechanic who made the repair estimates, but will politely decline the offer for the boat. If Ms. Petty is able to get the paperwork in order, VSC will be happy to take a second look at the boat. VSC appreciates the generosity out of which the donation was made.
· CBCBC Learn to Sail Scholarship: VSC can expect an invoice for $175 from CBC in the coming weeks. The recipient child and his family sends many thanks. He had a wonderful time that he wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford. Terrific community effort!
B. Race Committee: Ty Kretser
· OD’s: Thank you to those who have stepped up this season to volunteer when most needed. Your sense of teamwork and commitment to sailing and the spirit of VSC is remarkable!
· Clinton Regatta: Ty has worked closely with Steve Frederick to organize the regatta which is ready to go. Thanks Roland for volunteering to run the races.
· Soling Business:
- Ty is working on trying to secure OD’s for the US Championships. We need 5 OD’s per day. If you’re interested in helping out please volunteer to help. We need to execute a quality regatta!
- Amy is checking into securing a chase boat and Eddie is working on arranging some unique US Championship Trophies.
- Most traveling sailors have made arrangements to stay in Plattsburgh. We will post signs at the marina displaying Eddie’s contact info for those arriving on Thursday. Brian is calling the marina to let them know we have additional boats coming.
· Rating Committee: No report
C. Protest Committee: Protest on Soundwave VS Obsession was voted in favor of Soundwave.
D. Social Chair: Amber
- Fall Banquet: Location is TBD (Barracks, Mooney Café, J Christophers, Geoffrey’s). Date is Saturday November 4th.
- Amber is collecting all trophies for the banquet. Please be considerate of her time and get them to her or Phil ASAP.
III. New Business:
· 2007 Officers: Amber has agreed to be the nominating chair.
· Trophy Case at Naked Turtle: Matt Spiegel has graciously offered to designate space at the Turtle for a trophy display case. The case would hold all VSC trophies throughout the summer and the trophies would be distributed at the Fall Banquet for the winter months. They would be returned to the cases in the spring to be displayed. The suggested space is in the pool room, and it was decided that members would rather take them home than have them in that space. Perhaps a more visible space in the main room (two cases – in the NE and SE corners of the room) would be better. More discussion is needed before talking with Matt.
· There will be no Blue Fleet trophies this year for the Solings due to a large amount of trophies currently being distributed.
III. Next Meeting:
Scheduled: Wednesday October 11, 7:15pm
