II.   Commodore’s Report:

The Omnium Committee has generously given funds to the Valcour Sailing Club in the amount of $325.00 for use of committee boat, gasoline, and other race course supplies.  A positive feedback has been reported to J.P. from sailors who took part in the Omnium Race, with hopes to have an even more successful weekend of races for 2010.

III.           Vice-Commodore’s Report:

Andy has received various comments and suggestions about racing, the club, etc. this year.  He’ll be sending out an open e-mail to all members for feedback on these various topics which will be gone over at the Fall Banquet.  Ballots may be sent out to VSC members  for comments members might have.  Absentee ballots will also be available for those who cannot attend.

Andy has suggested reintroducing a Lake Champlain Conference for a summer series of six races  of which clubs on the lake would possibly host two apiece.   This would hopefully bring more families, friends into the racing scene to help boost memberships, and encourage young sailors to explore sailing in a fun venue.

IV.            Treasurer’s Report:

Don Duley has submitted a report as of September 21st,2009.  Payments have begun for the used engine on the Committee boat.  Dues have been collected by all members except one.  The PBB has offered a free slip for the Committee boat for the 2010 season.

Andy will update Don of supplies needed for the club season and committee boat.  Don will submit a maintenance budget for the 2010 season at the next VSC meeting.  A draft budget for social events will also be presented along with the new fee schedule for next year.  Members will be encouraged to begin dues payment over the winter months if they choose.

V.   Rear-Commodore’s Report:

Tim will begin collecting trophies for engraving of this years’ winners.  Anyone who has or knows the whereabouts of trophies can e-mail or call Tim to arrange pick-up of the trophies.

Committee members have tentatively chosen a date of November 20th for the Fall Banquet.  Tim will be checking with The Barracks for a possible venue again this year.  More information will be posted once Tim has finalized arrangements.  Prompt responses for RSVP’s will be encouraged.

“White Sail “ new members will be invited to the Fall Banquet .  Name tags will also be available for all banquet attendees which will have the boat sailed on and the members name.  This will help new members  identify each of us.

VI.            New Business:

A nominating committee will be putting together a list of potential nominees for the 2010 VSC Committee.  Kjell Dahlen will be working with Brian Dowling or Eddie Trombley to bring forth the list at the Fall Banquet.

Craig Meyerson has offered to maintain the VSC website for 2010.

Andy will work on hauling out the Committee boat, winter storage, mark removals before the next meeting.  Anyone interested in helping can contact him.

J.P. has suggested sending interested members to U.S. Sailing sponsored “Sailing Seminar” next spring.  Members who attend could then bring back knowledge for sailing club members.

J.P. has contacted Mr. Gagnier  for his help in attaing a “Zodiac” dinghy for the VSC club.  This would be useful in moving marks and other sailing club activities by not having to move the Committee boat during races.  More information will be brought forth by J.P. at a later date.

VII.           Next Meeting:

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009.  5:30 at Duley Realty.
